This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.

Expected, and here is the honest reason: notarising an app costs an Apple Developer membership, which we have not bought yet, so Gatekeeper has nothing to check against. Nothing is wrong with the download.

To open it: right-click (or Control-click) the app in Applications → Open → Open in the dialog. macOS remembers the choice, so you do this once. On Ventura and later you can also go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and press Open Anyway. Compare the SHA-256 below first if you want the same assurance notarisation would have given you.

Installing

Unzip the download and drag the app into Applications.
Right-click it → Open → Open (once only – see above).
Sign in with your account.
Pick a location and press Connect. macOS asks for your password to start the tunnel.
