Router & other devices

One connection for every device behind it – and it counts as one device on your plan.

There is no Router & other devices app. Privasee VPN is standard OpenVPN and WireGuard, so you connect with a profile and any client that speaks them. The steps are below and they take about two minutes.
A router whose firmware has an OpenVPN or WireGuard client: OpenWrt, pfSense, OPNsense, DD-WRT, Asuswrt-Merlin, GL.iNet, Synology and QNAP all do Stock ISP routers usually do not – check for a "VPN client" page before you start

Before you put a whole household behind it

A router tunnel has no kill switch of its own: if the tunnel drops, most firmware falls back to the plain connection unless you add a firewall rule to stop it. Set that up while you are in there. Devices behind the router also all share one exit address, so streaming services that dislike VPNs will treat them as one machine.

WireGuard is the easier choice on a router: fewer settings, far less CPU, and most modern firmware handles it natively.

Installing

  1. Sign in and open the config generator. Pick a location and download a WireGuard config or an OpenVPN profile.
  2. In your router’s admin page, find the VPN client section and import the file.
  3. Add a firewall rule that blocks the WAN route when the tunnel is down, so nothing leaks.
  4. Connect, then check the exit address on Privasee VPN’s home page from a device behind the router.

Other ways to connect, without our app

Privasee VPN is plain OpenVPN and WireGuard. Any client that speaks either one connects to exactly the same network with a profile from the config generator – you just do by hand what the app does for you.
